Question 38 - New Covenant or New Testament
God has carefully guarded His Bible through the years. Pretty much every Bible Translation contains more than sufficient information for Salvation. However, most scholars tell us that sometimes there are what they call "Unfortunate Translations" in certain cases. For the past 33 years, this Author's personal Bible has been, and will continue to be, the "New Scofield Reference Edition." In it, the Editors have frequently replaced out-dated words with modern words that are better understood. These replacement words are in (parenthesis) with the original King James word in the margin. We have no quarrel with the King James Bible using the word, "Testament" interchangeably with "Covenant." However, any Pre-Trib Pastor will agree that Christianity has been confused by this. When addressing whether or not the Church is "New Testament," Pre-Trib Pastors say the Church is definately New Testament, because this means the Church is in the "Grace Age" as opposed to the "Law Age." However, when addressing whether or not the Church is "New Covenant" or not, Pre-Trib Pastors tend to say the Church is actually not. They say that the Jews during the Tribulation are the "New Covenant" participants.

 Dia-the-ke
 The Greek word for Covenant and Testament is "Dia-the-ke." Pronounced "Dee-ath-ay-kay."

Old Testament - New Testament
The popular belief says the Old Testament represents repression, restriction, under the Law, but the New Testament represents freedom from the Law. In other words, no longer under the Law, but under Grace. Christianity has even coined the names "Old Testament and New Testament" as representing the two segment of the Bible.

Old Covenant - New Covenant
When Pre-Trib looks at the Old Covenant and New Covenant, they see it as the Old Covenant being Israel from Moses till the Cross, and the New Covenant as being from the Rapture through the Tribulation and on through what they call the Earthly Millennial Kingdom.

Does New Covenant Represent Freedom to Disobey God's Law?
 Anyone studying the New Covenant quickly sees that it cannot mean "Freedom to Disobey God's Law!" It means the OPPOSITE! Instead of annulling God's Law, the New Covenant is God writing His Law, "In the hearts and inward parts of His People" (See Jer.31:31-33 and Heb.8:8).  Point to Ponder here is, how can we coordinate the notion that we are, "Under Grace and Free to discard God's Law,"  while, at the same time, God, "Writes His Law in our hearts and inward parts?" All Bible Prophecies concerning the New Covenant show God's people obeying God's Law, not annulling it. The most compelling Pondered Question for Pre-Trib here is whether or not the Church is in a New Covenant relationship with Jesus or not. In our next chapter we answer this question by taking a very close look at the debate concerning whether or not the Church and Israel are the same. It is a long chapter, so we will refer to it and save space here. We will give a hint. The Bible says there will be horrid consequences for all who break God's Everlasting Covenant.
